Enos Cutler Papers, 1811-1849.

Cutler was part of the recruiting service of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th regiments of the United States Army. Volume 1 contains military and personal letters, as do volume 2 and 3. Volume 3 also contains letters concerning the Jefferson Woolen Company of Bronxville (N.Y.) Volume contains military orders and papers.

Ten companies comprised the 12th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia: five from Boston, one from North Bridgewater, one from Abington, one from Weymouth, one from Stoughton, and one from Gloucester. After organization was completed, the regiment was ordered to Fort Warren in Boston Harbor.
